Starters  - Something basic 20 minutes each

1.      Find out about how housing and energy can be made more sustainable – include at least 5 individual modifications we can make to housing and our use of energy, and say how it makes them more sustainable - use this research help sheet to structure your work, some ideas are available here
2.     Add Europe’s major cities to the a map of Europe - the task sheet is here
3.     Research and make notes on what makes Newcastle- upon Tyne a great SITE or location of a settlement.  Include reasons for why it was chosen as a site for a settlement in the past and why it remains a good site for a MODERN settlement - some resources to help you, including maps and photographs

9.     Describe the patterns on the choropleth map of settlement growth  - get the resource

Desserts – Something creative 30 minutes each

10.   Draw a settlement hierarchy for the North East, including examples of local settlements - help sheet
11.     Get a Google satellite image of your street and annotate it for its key features
12.     Create, draw and annotate an ideal future street in a future settlement 200 years from now.  What sustainable features will it have?  Explain the design, layout and features of your settlement - housing example
